Earth Day x MINT

Today is Earth Day. Which means celebrating our beautiful, bountiful planet. Holding governments, organisations and brands to account. And calling for bold, creative and innovative solutions.

You hold real power for change. As a consumer, your choices, voices and actions matter. So here’s a little inspo for what you can do, right now, that will make a real and tangible impact.

Reconnect with nature through forest bathing

In the 1980s Japan created the term shinrin-yoku which translates to ‘forest bathing’ or ‘absorbing the forest atmosphere’. It offered an eco-antidote to burnout, while encouraging people to reconnect with the country’s forests. Since then, research has proven what we already know: time spent in nature can reduce stress and lift your mood.

So go for a walk. Have a picnic. Or simply sit in your backyard. And while you’re at it, enjoy the sights, smells and sounds that surround you. Appreciate nature and feel its benefits.

Shop consciously

When buying clothes, it’s helpful to think about how the garment is made, and the fabric it’s made from. Conventional cotton, for example, is environmentally destructive. Did you know it takes 3,781 litres of water just to make one pair of jeans?

Bamboo on the other hand is one of the most sustainable plants on earth. Which is why we use 100% wild and organically grown bamboo for MINT. It’s grown only with rainwater, it improves the quality of the air we breathe, it’s naturally renewable and it offers carbon fixation.

Good for a MINT Man. Good for our planet.

Switch to reusable bags

We’re not just talking about ditching single use plastic bags for your grocery shop. Although that’s a good start. When buying anything, consider the packaging. Is it harmful to our planet? Or is it recyclable and biodegradable? Can you use it again? Or will you throw it out as soon as you get home?

Our MINT tubes are all recyclable and biodegradable. We also actively encourage upcycling, from stashing chocolate to storing craft equipment, jewellery holders to hardware storage, it’s been awesome seeing your innovative creations.

“Nature is painting for us, day after day, pictures of infinite beauty if only we have the eyes to see them.” – John Ruskin
